Awakening the Spirit

On a sunset swing in Costa Rica.

Welcoming Spring with Open Arms

As the days grow longer and the air carries a hint of warmth, I find myself reflecting on the significance of this season. Spring has always been a time of renewal, of shedding the weight of winter and stepping into something fresh and full of possibility. But in the past few years, it has taken on a much deeper meaning—a reminder that healing is an ongoing journey and that each day offers an opportunity to begin again. Every day is a new practice.

Nature’s Awakening

Spring arrives like a gentle awakening after the slumber of winter. The earth begins to stir, adorned with fresh greenery and vibrant blossoms. Each bloom is a testament to the resilience and the promise of new life. And just like nature, I, too, have learned to embrace the cycles of change—the quiet of dormancy, the slow unfurling, the full blooming. What I have learned is that healing isn’t a straight path; it moves like the seasons, ebbing and flowing, asking us to trust that new life will emerge over time. You cannot rush the seasons or the flowers.

A Time for Personal Renewal

Starting over after my divorce was not just about rebuilding my life—it was about rediscovering myself. There were moments of fear, grief, and loneliness, but there was also an undeniable sense of renewal and possibility. Just as spring invites nature to bloom again, it invites me to grow, to let go of what no longer serves me, and to step into the unknown with curiosity.

I’ve come to see that renewal isn’t a one-time event. It’s something we choose, moment by moment. A new beginning isn’t just about grand gestures—it’s in the quiet decisions we make every day by checking in with ourselves to what feels aligned within us. The choice to try something new, to take a deep breath, to be open to joy even when we’re unsure of what’s ahead.

Awakening the Spirit

For me, this season is about more than just change—it’s about awakening. It’s about reconnecting with myself, with others, and with the world around me. It’s about finding gratitude in the small things: the warmth of the sun on my skin, a deep conversation with a friend, and the simple pleasure of a meal shared with the people I love.

I remind myself often that there are still dinners yet to be eaten, places yet to be traveled, people yet to meet, and experiences yet to be had. My story is not over—it’s still unfolding, and I am here for all of it.

Celebrating Each Step Forward

Wherever you are in your journey, I invite you to embrace this season as an opportunity to step forward—whether it’s in a bold stride or a tentative step forward.  There is no rush. Growth happens at its own pace, and every step, no matter how small, is worth honoring and celebrating.

How Will You Welcome Spring?

As we step into this season of renewal, I invite you to reflect on your own journey. How do you plan to embrace new beginnings? What small choices will you make to welcome change with an open heart? Every movement we make can make a big shift. Trust the process.

For me, I’m looking forward to teaching yoga on the beach, the park, and at local studios, traveling to Costa Rica, visiting the Green City Market, and holding women's circles in Chicago for Sacred Woman Collective…all while continuing to heal my heart, strengthen my relationships, building community and nourishing my spirit through the daily practices I’ve cultivated and share with others to help them heal on their journey.

Spring is a reminder that change is inevitable, but growth is a choice. I choose to learn and grow.  I exhale the past and inhale the future. I choose joy. I am grateful for all the bountiful beauty I created in the past. I choose to believe in all the beauty and abundance of what lies ahead.

Let’s step into this new season together, embracing renewal and celebrating each moment as it comes.

Love + Namaste,
